The ERZ-U12JP511B is a Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) which is widely used for electrical circuit protection. This TVS is a two-terminal device, also known as a voltage-dependent resistor, or varistor. It is designed as a symmetrical device, which is able to absorb excess voltages and suppress overvoltage.A TVS consists of a metal oxide layer that is sandwiched between two electrodes. When the voltage pulse, such as a surge or spike, exceeds the breakdown voltage of the metal oxide layer, current flows through it and dissipates the energy.
