The working principle of ERZ-U25JP112 can be described in five stages. First, the circuit experiences a high transient surge, which causes the diode to become forward biased. At this point, the TVS will start conducting a current in the direction of the positive or negative terminal. Second, the voltage across the TVS drops and it starts to conduct a current both directions. This is when the device begins to absorb the energy of the transient surge. Third, as the current through the device increases, the voltage across the device will continue to drop. This is when the device reaches its maximum power dissipation limit. Fourth, as the transient surge dissipates, the current through the device will slowly reduce and the voltage across the device will increase slowly. Finally, the diode is restored to its original state and ready to protect the circuit from another transient surge.
The application fields of ERZ-U25JP112 are widely used in consumer electronics, communications/networking and other high-speed interfaces such as USB 3.1, Ethernet, DDR3 and SATA. Since it has low capacitance, it is perfect for high speed applications.
