The ESW-101-38-G-S is a versatile and reliable rectangular connector designed to provide a reasonable solution for a wide range of applications. It is a two-pole, three-row, eight-way socket with a 4-40 UNC socket head screw terminal. This connector is suitable for connecting two-pole equipment and provides a high level of protection against shock and vibration.The ESW-101-38-G-S is made from a strong and durable polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) thermoplastic, and features UL94V-0 rating for contacts for flammability and compatibility with common environments. The connector also has a 0.25 inch pitch, straight or right-angled shrouded, ring-type connector, and can accept a panel mount or thru-hole mount. The contact system of this connector is crimp and tin plated or gold plated brass and allows a current rating of 5 amps per contact.Different variants of the connector are available to provide extra features such as clip kits, dust boots, and flex caps for protection from dust and moisture. The ESW-101-38-G-S also provides an economical solution to meet the requirements of higher contact densities in electro-mechanical circuitry. Working Principle
The ESW-101-38-G-S connector consists of two mating parts, the header and the socket. The header is the male end that connects to the devices and it consists of a molded plastic body and contact terminals. The socket is a female component that attaches to the PCB and is composed of a housing and individual contacts. The contacts of the header and socket are in direct contact when mated and depending on the type of connector, they have either two or three levels of contact.The header houses the contact terminals which protrude through the socket housing and provides connection between the wires and the PCB by providing mechanical stability and electrical continuity. As a safety measure, the contact area of the connector is shrouded to prevent the contact terminals from being bent or damaged. Additionally, the connection between the header and the socket is soldered for greater durability.To provide better performance and protection against environmental hazards, a sealant is applied on the header. The sealant protects against dust, water, and other contaminants and also acts as a connector for the contact pins. The connection between the header and the socket is secured using a mechanical locking device which prevents accidental disconnection.
