Evaluation Boards - Linear Voltage Regulators are mainly used in consumer power regulatory applications, such as computers and video game consoles. EV-AUTO-LDOS is an evaluation board-based application-specific linear voltage regulator designed to provide high-efficiency regulation with low quiescent current. It provides excellent regulation, with a current ripple of just 6.5mV at 1.2A.

The EV-AUTO-LDOS features an onboard microcontroller which enables sequencing and fault detection, providing an easy point-and-click GUI for simple configuration and parameter tuning. The board also supports multiple communications protocols for controlling and monitoring. The high-voltage side of the regulator is capacitor-to-ground isolated, allowing it to safely handle inputs of up to 40V. The low-voltage side features low-power bipolar output regulation, with adjustable current limiting and a wide range of outputs from 0 to 15V. The board also supports remote sensing for improved regulation.

The EV-AUTO-LDOS provides the user with a choice of different operating modes. The Boost Mode functions as a constant voltage source, while the buck mode is designed to provide low-noise voltage regulation with minimal inductance. The switching frequency of the regulator can be varied to optimize efficiency for a given application. A power save mode reduces quiescent current for further efficiency.

The EV-AUTO-LDOS utilizes a programmable logic array (PLA) as well as a differential amplifier to detect any offset or gain drift in the regulator output and adjust for it in order to maintain precision regulation. The unit also features current sensing, allowing the user to accurately monitor the current being drawn from the output. External components are also provided for size optimization and improved system performance.

The EV-AUTO-LDOS is suitable for a variety of consumer-level applications, such as notebooks, tablets, remote controllers, gaming consoles, and power supplies. It is designed to provide the customer with maximum flexibility and reliability, with a wide input voltage range, adjustable current-limiting, fault management, and remote sensing for improved accuracy. The versatile EV-AUTO-LDOS provides an ideal solution for a variety of regulated power systems.
