The AVDSP ICM-20609 Evaluation Board from Analog Devices is a versatile solution for sensing applications. It is powered by the ADICM-20609, an integrated electro-mechanical position sensor with integrated accelerometers for angle measurement. The ICM-20609\'s voltage-based analog outputs provide full linearity, low drift, high accuracy, and low power consumption. Additionally, the evaluation board features two analog voltage outputs and a single-ended digital output.

The ICM-20609 evaluation board is capable of measuring 3-D angle, velocity, acceleration, and position. In addition, it offers on-chip filtering that provides excellent noise immunity and is ideal for most motion sensing applications. Integration of the MTE-VPI™ (Voltage Position Interface) and the Compass™ accelerometers, as well as the ALV series micromechanical polarized accelerometers, allows the ICM-20609 to accurately measure surface acceleration, tilt, and vibration. Furthermore, the integrated temperature compensation algorithm provides excellent stability over time.

The evaluation board comes with the ADI EV-ICM-20609 software, which enables users to configure the ICM-20609 for use with their installed application. The software allows users to do real-time angle, velocity, and acceleration measurements. Additionally, the software provides real-time graphical output to help identify and evaluate various conditions affecting the output of the ICM-20609.

The AVDSP ICM-20609 evaluation board operates by measuring the acceleration at a sensor, determining the vectors of motion, and then calculating the acceleration using the McIntire-Vaikinen accelerometer equation. The two analog voltage outputs provide measurements with ±180° accuracy and a non-linearity of less than 0.3%. Additionally, the single-ended digital output is capable of providing digital angle values of up to 0.1° accuracy with a minimum resolution of 0.02°.

The ICM-20609 has a wide range of benefits for use in motion sensing applications.
