The EVB-EN5311QI is a development and evaluation board designed to help engineers understand the application field and working principle of a high power offline Flyback Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) integrated circuit (IC). This board is based on the NXP EN5311QI, a high-speed offline controller IC designed specifically for isolated offline Flyback applications.
The EN5311QI is intended to drive a Flyback power converter topology in a wide range of input and output voltages. This IC incorporates a high-efficiency synchronous MOSFET driver and a PWM controller. It is resettable and supports PFC and second conversion with lower power stages.
This evaluation board has been designed to provide engineers with a quick and easy way to evaluate the performance of the EN5311QI IC. It has been designed to handle input voltages between 12V and 700V DC and output power up to 500W. Additionally, this EVB supports thermal protection, current limitation and has robust short circuit protection. A comprehensive output protection and remote sensing feature are also included.

The NXP EN5311QI IC used in this board is a constant frequency current mode PWM controller with a comprehensive set of integrated features. It operates with an internal oscillator typically around 1MHz with a fixed frequency of operation. It features a wide input voltage range and an adjustable current limit. By using the EVB-EN5311QI board, engineers can easily adjust the output voltage and power with the built-in potentiometers, and monitor the input and output voltages, current, power and efficiency with the supplied multimeter.
