EVB-EN5329QI is an evaluation board of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply). It can be used in many kinds of applications fields with different working principles. EVB-EN5329QI is mainly designed to evaluate the performance of the EN5329QI device, a regulator IC with a DC-DC converter, full bridge rectifier and resonant half bridge structure.
The main application field of EVB-EN5329QI is automotive industry. It is used for 48V EV (Electric Vehicle) battery charging applications. This board is especially designed for the high power PFC (Power Factor Correction) and high power DC-DC converter applications. The working principle of EVB-EN5329QI is based on the concept of POL (Power Overload Level). This POL concept allows the system to generate an output voltage which is a fixed part of an input voltage, while keeping a constant efficiency (CE). The output voltage is set by connecting a voltage divider to the board input, so that the output voltage will be determined by the ratio between the two resistors of the voltage divider. This allows an easy and adjustable output voltage control.
The EVB-EN5329QI board works with an internal PFC controller, a DC-DC controller and a half bridge resonant converter with constant frequency control. The PFC controller provides a voltage slope control of the input voltage, and the DC-DC controller provides a line regulation and a current mode control of the output voltage.
