EVB-EP5362QI is a high-performance embedded evaluation board for AC/DC offline SMPS applications utilizing the NXP Advanced Energy Management (AEM) controllers. The board is designed to provide developers with a platform to evaluate and test the performance of the AEM controllers in an off-line, non-isolated application. The board supports low-power designs of up to 1.5W and high-power designs up to 25W in either DC-DC or AC-DC applications. The board can be powered directly by AC mains or from an appropriate AC/DC or DC/DC adapter. The board features the NXP Advanced Energy Management (AEM) controllers. The AEM-Tolerant controller is an 8-bit, high-performance, low-jitter CMOS SRAM controller that provides enhanced system and power line fault tolerance for NXP designs. The AEM-Tolerant controller includes three On-Chip gate drivers that provide superior power control over a variety of NXP output stages. The controller contains circuitry for monitoring and controlling the output voltage of several different types of power supplies, including AC/DC, DC/DC, and isolated DC/DC converters.The EVB-EP5362QI board includes a variety of configurable power inputs including buck, boost, and buck-boost, and the board provides the flexibility to develop and evaluate a variety of DC/DC and AC/DC topologies. The board supports both current-mode and voltage-mode control, with switching frequencies up to 400 kHz. The board features an onboard gate driver circuit, programmable IGBT drive inhibit circuit, frequency calibration circuitry, auto-restart, and over-temperature protection. The board has a voltage range of 10-60V with soft start and over-temperature protection.The onboard oscillator oscillates at 200kHz for higher performance designs and the frequency can be adjusted to suit the design requirements. A powerful system-level design tool is included with the board, and it enables easy evaluation and debug of the design. This includes Simulink and Matlab tools as well as NXP’s advanced graphical user interface (GUI). The design interface can be remotely accessed via a web browser to allow for rapid evaluation and debug.In summary, EVB-EP5362QI is an ideal evaluation board for AC/DC off-line SMPS applications.
