The EVB-EP5368QI is an evaluation board designed to evaluate performance and application of AC/DC (off-line) SMPS, such as chargers and adapters. The board utilizes the NXP-EP5368QI multi-mode offline controllers with integrated protection features for application in a wide variety of charging solutions, such as power adapters, docking stations, etc. This evaluation board has been designed to provide users with a starting point that allows them to evaluate the performance of the NXP-EP5368QI.
The EVB-EP5368QI consists of two main components: the NXP-EP5368QI controller IC and a power supply circuit. The controller IC is a multi-mode offline controller with integrated protection features such as over-current protection, over-voltage protection, under-voltage protection, short-circuit protection, and over-temperature protection. The power supply circuit is based on a buck converter topology and a latch-off output MOSFET. The power supply circuit also includes a voltage detector and an internal resistor divider for supplying an external feedback voltage to the controller IC.
The NXP-EP5368QI controller features dynamic burst mode operation for improving light load efficiency while maintaining good load regulation during heavy loads. It also features a soft start and scalable output voltage up to 46V. In addition, the controller includes protection features such as over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, short-circuit, and over-temperature protection. It also provides a window detector, an accurate OVP comparator, clock synchronization, and an external power good output.
The EVB-EP5368QI is supported by NXP’s design and simulation software, EZ Power Studio, which allows for easy programming and control of the evaluation board. The software also provides the ability to simulate different loads and other conditions, while tracking performance metrics such as efficiency, load regulation, and protection parameters.
The EVB-EP5368QI is ideal for applications requiring multi-mode offline controllers such as chargers and adapters. The NXP-EP5368QI controller is capable of providing excellent load regulation performance, excellent light load efficiency, and robust protection features.
