EVB-EV1340QI is one of the Evaluation Boards – DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. This board is based on the LY1340QI AFCI(Auto-Frequency Correction Input) Offline Switching Regulator from Sichuan Lyric Semiconductor Co., Ltd. The LY1340QI is a peak current-mode offline switching regulator that operates at an extremely low power consumption. It implements a single-stage primary side precision power supply control IC solution, and supports 2-stage auto-frequency jitter dimming & lossless power factor correction circuit without an optocoupler. It meets all global energy regulation standards such as EN61000-3-2 and CSA/UL copland.

The EV1340QI includes the controller IC LY1340QI, overvoltage protection MOSFET, an auxiliary winding active clamp flyback transformer, as well as all the necessary components to form the complete AFCI circuit. The active PFC controller IC also provides features including soft-start, extended soft-stop, and adjustable current limit for each output, and can be used in various applications such as lighting, adapters, TV monitors, game consoles and POS systems.

The working principle of the EVB-EV1340QI is straightforward. The LY1340QI is an offline flyback switching regulator that is made of the primary side controller IC, MOSFET, and an auxiliary winding active clamp flyback transformer. Starting from power on, the LY1340QI detects the primary current and turns on the MOSFET. Once the power supply is stable, the same current will be returned to ground through the auxiliary winding of the flyback transformer, and a stable output voltage and current will be supplied to the load.
