Working Principle
EVB-RT7294CGJ6F adopts a dynamic Constant On-Time (COT) topology. This topology is based on knowing the input voltage and calculating the switching frequency (FSK) and off-time (tOFF). Thus, it provides fast line/load transient responses, ease of component selection, fast transient response, small foot print, and excellent line and load regulation accuracy.
When the switch is open, energy is accumulated in the inductor. With the current increases, the current sense signal reaches the current limit threshold, then the low side MOSFET turns off before the inductor peak current reached. Then the switch is ready to open at the beginning of the next cycle.
When the switch is closed, the converter works in the Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) and the output voltage can be regulated by adjusting the on-time of the switch. With this kind of working principle, the converter is able to provide high efficiency and current limit.
