EVB_RT7296AGJ8F is a wide input (4.75V~36V) High Efficiency, Low Quiescent Current, Low Dropout Regulator with MEMS Oscillator featuring Synchronous Rectification. This evaluation board is intended to simplify the evaluation and application of the RT7296AGJ8F, and allow the user to measure and validate the performance and features of the regulator over a wide input and switching range.

The RT7296AGJ8F evaluation board is designed for easy evaluation. With jumper setting in combination with external components, the board can be configured for various output voltages. The output voltage is monitored and displayed on the LCD. The board supports up to 5A output current, programmable operating frequency (300kHz~2MHz) and switching current limit protection. It is ideal for testing and developing DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS applications.

The EVB_RT7296AGJ8F board provides an excellent platform for investigating and evaluating the features and performance of the RT7296AGJ8F device. This evaluation board is designed to operate from a 4.75V to 36V input supply and provides adjustable output voltage ranging from 0.8V to 32V.

The board is composed of four major functional blocks: power stage, control circuit, LC filter and display. The power stage consists of the RT7296AGJ8F IC, power MOSFETs, Schottky diodes and external components. The control circuit consists of a current-mode controller that features an adjustable current-mode and voltage-mode programming, and a MEMS oscillator whose frequency can be programmed from 300kHz to 2MHz. The LC filter is used to reduce output ripple and noise. The display is used to monitor the output voltage.

The RT7296AGJ8F evaluation board is designed to operate as a step-down converter with a maximum output current of 5A. The user can use the current-limit potentiometer to adjust the current limit of the converter. When the output current reaches the set current limit, the converter enters the current limit protection mode, limiting the output current to approximately twice of the set value.

The RT7296AGJ8F evaluation board can be used as a constant voltage (CV) or constant current (CC) regulator. The user can use the CV/CC jumper to select the operating modes. When the CV/CC jumper is in “CV” position, the board operates in CV mode. In this case, the output voltage (VOUT) is adjusted by the voltage reference resistor (RVREF). When the jumper is in “CC” position, the board operates in CC mode. In this case, the output current (IOUT) is adjusted by the current reference resistor (RCREF).

The RT7296AGJ8F evaluation board can also be used to evaluate synchronous rectification. The board includes a synchronous rectification switch that can be used to test the dropout voltage of the device.The user can also use the synchronous rectification switch to measure the power efficiency of the RT7296AGJ8F device
