FT245R is connected to a main processor via dedicated drivers, which consists of MCURX and MCTX drivers to control the data flow from and to the USB host controller. The board is characterized to operate with any standard ATMEL microcontroller with enough dedicated address and data bus wide to support x8, x16 and x32 bit data width FIFO interface to microcontroller systems.
The board also offers an embedded programmable Ethernet-based port with the help of an FTDI USB-to-UART bridge converter, allowing easy connection to any personal computer or workstation. The board provides a secondary FIFO interface that enables data capture from any digital signal devices such as thermocouples, pressure sensors, flow meters, etc. with an opto-isolated circuit for safety. The integrated 2-port USB high-speed hub can be used to add more devices and increase the data transfer rate.
The board also supports USB 2.0 high speed 480Mb/s for upstream and downstream data transfer. In addition to these features, the board also has an ATX power connector, a voltage regulator, a 2-channel UART bridge, a 5V/3.3V switch, an I2C digital EEPROM, and an ISP programming connector for easy access to the MCU. Last but not least, the board also comes with a set of LEDs for debugging.
