EVB-USB3750 Application Field and Working Principle

Evaluation and demonstration boards and kits are used to evaluate and demonstrate various circuit and electronic components and systems. They enables for rapid prototyping of projects and products in order to explore and test ideas. One such popular evaluation and demonstration board is the EVB-USB3750 (EVB is an acronym for “Easy Virtual Board”).

The EVB-USB3750 is designed to provide the user with all the facts and also the tools to rapidly develop USB 2.0 compliant applications. It is a low-cost, low-power USB 2.0 development platform which provides the user a complete system to explore, evaluate and test USB 2.0 compatible applications. This platform could also be used for providing a demonstration of the applications developed by a user.

The EVB-USB3750 is generally used for industrial-grade USB 2.0 applications. Its full-speed mode provides the user a bandwidth of 480 Mbps which is nearly five times higher than that of the traditional USB 1.1 ports, and the FIFO controller also benefits from an increase in bandwidth. It is also capable of propelling USB Video devices, such as web cameras, digital video cameras, etc.

The EVB-USB3750 is based on the Universal Serial Bus 2.0 standard (USB 2.0). It is a four-port USB 2.0 host controller built on the open standard of the USB standard. It supports both low-speed and full-speed transfer speeds. Included with the EVB-USB3750 is a power controller module which can help to regulate the device\'s power output.

The EVB-USB3750 board is designed to detect, and process all kinds of USB interrupt signals, and provides a variety of different customization options for its hardware components, such as enabling/disabling various ports, and configuring the external memory. The circuit board is also designed with several programmable logic components for the user to design and build their own customized logic circuits.

The USB 2.0 controller provided by the EVB-USB3750 is basically a multiprocessor system with dedicated core controllers. It consists of the four USB 2.0 ports, and an external memory for code and data. Its core processor is a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M4 processor, which not only provides the user with high I/O throughput but also provides efficient power management.

The USB 2.0 protocol provides two types of data clocking modes, namely data and isochronous mode. In data mode, data is transferred via single byte transactions which takes place without any intervening requests from the USB device controller. In isochronous mode, data is transferred in a specified sequence which is determined by the USB host controller, and hence it has less latency and improved throughput than data mode.

The EVB-USB3750 supports both these clocking modes of communication, and is also provided with a set of hardware resources, such as timers, pulse-width modulators, and pulse density modulators, etc. which provide the user with customized control over the data transfer. The board also supports external configuration settings.

The EVB-USB3750 provides the users with a complete platform to evaluate and demonstrate the USB 2.0 compliant protocols. It is cost-effective and highly efficient, and provides the user with full control over the application. It is widely used in industrial USB applications, and is also suitable for educational and prototype development.
