EVE-RLCJL008B Working Principle

The EVE-RLCJL008B encoder works on the principle of incremental detection. This principle is based on the recognition of the sequence of tone wheel (or disk) teeth that pass in front of a light-emitting diode (LED) or an infrared (IR) LED, specially designed for the purpose. As the tone wheel turns, it generates an optical signal, which is then picked up by the LED or IR LED. This generates a series of pulses referred to as increment signals, thus the name, Incremntal Detection.

A signal channel uses two ICs (Integrated Circuits) to form an optical switch. The signal is processed by the IC to output a single pulse which will correspond to one tooth/slot from a tone wheel. The EVE-RLCJL008B generates two phases (A and B) with 16 pulses/cycle so that they can be used for direction detection. The pulse frequency is proportional to the shaft rotational speed.

The EVE-RLCJL008B has a push-pull circuit that can detect the stable direction from the A and B phases. Push-pull circuits are useful for canceling undesired interference from nearby electrical circuit. This gives the EVE-RLCJL008B a high noise immunity and high EMI resistance, making it suitable for noisy and harsh industrial environments.
