Thermal cutoffs, or commonly called thermal fuses, are electrical safety devices that are designed to protect against overheating and fire hazards which may be produced from electrical current or caused by overloads, short-circuits, or ground faults. These thermal fuses, as previously stated, are used as a safety precaution to prevent these hazardous situations from occurring, as well as protecting the electrical equipment’s components and wiring from damage due to overheating. Thermal fuses can be used in numerous different electrical applications such as refrigerators, air conditioners, kitchens, circuit boards, car systems, and much more. They are connected in series with an electrical circuit to monitor the temperature of the application, and if the temperature exceeds a certain threshold, usually indicated by a cut-off temperature on the rating of the thermal fuse, then the fuse opens and disconnects the circuit before any further damages can occur.
The EYP-05BE102 thermal fuse is a small thermal cut-off fuse which can be used for many of these applications. It is a one-time fuse with fixed temperature and current ratings and features high breaking capacity. The EYP-05BE102 can be used in temperatures up to 150°C and has a rated current of 10A. It is designed to break the circuit when the current exceeds 10A in order to protect the circuit from overheating and fire hazards. It has a voltage rating of 250V and is UL and C-UL listed. The body of the EYP-05BE102 is made of an insulating material which is not affected by humidity and is resistant to corrosion.
The working principle of the EYP-05BE102 is based on its design, which is to melt when its temperature exceeds the rating. The EYP-05BE102 is filled with a bi-metallic strip and an insulating material. When the temperature of the application exceeds its threshold, the bi-metallic strip heats up and bends, creating an electrical connection between the two terminals and allowing a small amount of current to flow. This current heats up the bi-metallic strip and causes it to bend even more, increasing the current flow and eventually causing it to melt, breaking the circuit and disconnecting the current.
The EYP-05BE102 is mostly used in the telecommunications, semiconductor, and automotive industries. It can be used to protect circuit components, wiring, and terminals from damage due to overcurrents and other hazardous situations. It is also used in equipment with limited space such as in compact circuit boards and other small electronics. As it is UL and C-UL recognized, it is ideal for safety applications in the US and Canada. The EYP-05BE102 is a reliable and cost-effective way to protect your equipment from the risks of overheating and fire hazards.
