EZ-0007 application field and working principle
The EZ-0007 Evaluation Board is a LED driver featuring the STLED346, STLED413 and STLED509 devices. This type of LED driver is mainly used in LED lighting based applications where constant current LED output current is important to maintain LED life expectancy and light intensity.The LED driver contains a triple-mode LED supply stage with a boost converter section and a hysteretic scheme in the constant-current system. This allows for always low-noise operation since the converter always works in discontinuous conduction mode. Furthermore, the device has an advanced power saving feature that automatically adjusts its operation based on the input voltage.Regarding dimming, the EZ-0007 Evaluation Board relies on an intelligent high-side current diagnostic block. The dimming feature can be controlled through an external variable resistor connected to the CN6 connector. Moreover, the device operates in an open-loop configuration allowing for several types of control signals, including pulse-width modulation (PWM) or analog control.In terms of power efficiency and thermal performance, the EZ-0007 Evaluation Board is equipped with a simplified thermal structure incorporating a very low thermal resistance between the power stage and its surroundings. Moreover, the high maximum temperature at the junction of the device is 115 Celsius, which further guarantees improved thermal conditions.In addition, the EZ-0007 Evaluation Board includes a switching frequency of up to 700kHz, which results in a compact size. Moreover, the board features an adjustable soft-start time ranging from 0.3 to 200 ms, which helps reduce inrush currents during start-up and reduces the output voltage ripple.Finally, the EZ-0007 Evaluation Board uses an 8-pin SOIC-8 package for maximum electrical performance, improved board space, and lower costs. Moreover, the board is easily traceable through the different labels on the PCB in order to allow efficient maintenance.
