Circular Connectors - Accessories

Circular connectors often require accessories to both ensure the best crimp quality and protect from cable breakage, provide strain relief and/or offer environmental sealing. Accessories offered by the circular connectors manufacturers may be designed specifically for the connector that they are targeting or they may be available as a standard item with uses independent of the connector type.

FGG.0B.732.DN application field and working principle is one of such accessories designed to provide strain relief specially for the connector. It is a kind of ferrule used with a cable gland to provide mechanical strain relief and environmental sealing for cables each with connectors attached. By cutting or crimping the ferrule onto the wire or cable, a mechanical strain relief is created, which relieves strain of the cables and helps protect them from breakage or accidental disconnection.

Installation to Connector

FGG.0B.732.DN is used with a full range of circular connectors, this assembly is used for both straight cable and 90° configurations. The heat-shrink tubing is cuffed over the cable and then the entire assembly is inserted into the connector. The ferrule and connector are both crimped in one operation. After assembly the ferrule provides strain relief, and seals the connection against environmental contamina­tion.

Material

The standard material for the FGG.0B.732.DN ferrule is a copper-nickel alloy aluminum, custom materials are also available upon request. Heat-shrink tubing is available in two colors: black and red, and can be supplied in a variety of materials and wall thicknesses that are avail­able from the manufacturers.

Application

FGG.0B.732.DN ferrule can be used in a variety of applications, such as commercial aerospace, rail and urban transportation, military vehicles, and telecommunication, broadcasting and control. It is most often used in applications in which environmental protection is necessary and the advantages of the cable gland are most beneficial.
