< html > < head >FN258HVIT-16-29 is a power line filter module released by Linear Technology. It is an integrated, planar filter module suitable for suppressing conducted EMI across power lines in a variety of digital electronic systems. The filter module includes both common and differential mode filters.
Application Field
The FN258HVIT-16-29 is intended to be used in AC Line Power applications. It can suppress conducted emissions in equipments such as PC desktops, gaming consoles and home theater systems. It is also suitable for use in AC Line power applications and ruggedized, military applications.
Working Principle
The sampling power line filter module operates on the principle of differential mode noise rejection. At frequencies above 10KHz, current flows through the two common mode inductors. This causes a voltage across a series combination of the two differential mode inductors, resulting in a signal reduction. At lower frequencies (<10KHz), differential mode noise is attenuated by a capacitive reactance between the two filter inductors. The settling time of the filter depends on the combined inrush current and capacitive load of the filter. The power line filter typically takes a few milliseconds to settle into its final cut-off frequency.
Advantages
- High quality, compliant with FCC/VDE requirements
- Low leakage current, low switch noise
- Wide frequency range from < 10 kHz to 30 MHz
- Excellent immunity to ESD and electrical transients
