Float, Level Sensors
Float and Level sensors are an important class of level sensing technology that are used in a wide variety of applications. This type of sensing technology is widely used to detect the water level in tanks and other similar fluid vessels. The principle of float and level sensing is simple and very effective. It involves using a float device to indicate the water level in a container and then using a level detector to detect and measure the water level.Float sensors, as the name indicates, are usually made up of a float device which is composed of two main parts – the float arm and a flotator. The float arm has a buoyant force that keeps it permanently submerged in the water. The other part is a flotator which acts as a counterbalance to the buoyant force and provides a consistent and reliable response even in the presence of changing water levels.Level sensors, on the other hand, usually consist of two main components – a level measuring device and the detector which detects and measures the water level. The key elements of the detector are usually a pair of electronic probes, one located at the top and one located at the bottom. The electronic probes interact with each other continuously in order to measure the distance between the probes and thereby determining the water level. The same technology is used for FPS-T (Fill-and-Drain-Sensor-Type) application field and working principle. The FPS-T is a specifically designed float level sensor which is used to measure the water level in a reservoir. It uses two electrodes which are embedded in a silicone membrane. The electrode pair is connected to a circuit which continuously monitors the water level. When the water level reaches a certain point the circuit triggers an alarm or a signal. FPS-T float sensors are used in various areas such as industrial water-sampling applications, fuel level measurement systems, and water treatment systems. This type of sensor is also used to monitor the water level in tanks and reservoirs, especially in industries where tank level monitoring is essential. It is also used to monitor changes in the intensity of light due to changes in the ambient temperature.The working principle of a FPS-T float level sensor is quite simple. It consists of a float arm and a flotator. The float arm is positioned such that it can float freely inside the vessel or water tank and also maintains a constant clearance between the flotator and the surrounding walls. The flotator, which is generally composed of a metal or plastic disc, is designed to respond to water displacements as they occur and provide a suitable indication of the water level.When the water level rises or falls, the flotator displaces the float arm, resulting in a change in air pressure inside the chamber. This change in air pressure is detected by the sensors which then measure the water level and send the corresponding signal back to the control system. The detected information is then used by the control system for performing various functions such as warnings or turning on/off valves to regulate the water flow.Float and Level sensors are used in many fields and are cost-effective, reliable and accurate solutions for a variety of applications. They are also easy to install and maintain. FPS-T level sensors offer the advantages of being able to accurately detect and measure the water level and to simultaneously monitor changes in temperature and light intensity.
