FSI-115-03-G-D-K-TR Application Field and Working Principle

The FSI series connector is a Rectangular Connector - Arrays, Edge Type, Mezzanine (Board to Board). It includes features such as power control, signal transmission, and system control/monitoring which makes it suitable for a multitude of aerospace applications. This connector type enables the transmission of high current, electrical and optical signals with multiple contact points, spanning from 3.53-6.20mm mate heights. The connector is composed of two main parts: the contact rows and the housing. The contacts are arranged in an array in an alternating configuration to evenly distribute current throughout the row. The rows are embedded in the connector body which serves as the connector’s contact and insulation interface. The housing contains the contacts and provides mechanical support for them during mating and unmating operations. In addition, it ensures proper signal integrity in both the power and the signal paths by providing the necessary electrical, environmental, and mechanical shock/vibration protection. The contact type of the connector is divided into two types: the signal type and the power type. The signal type contacts provide accurate transmission of signals, while the power type contacts provide the necessary current supply to multiple contact points. The power contacts are also the backbone of the connector, providing the necessary strain relief and insulation. Both contact types offer three contact options: soldered, or direct ground, and conventional contact pins or conductors. The connector’s design allows for quick and easy mating and unmating operations, as well as minimal power dropping when used in series. It is a two-part single-sided system, meaning that it has an upper mating section and a lower unmated section. The upper section is attached to the top of the board, while the lower section is connected to the bottom of the board. This enables the connector to be assembled quickly and easily, making it a more cost-effective and time-efficient solution for aerospace applications. The working principle of the FSI series connector is simple. The connector’s contact pins and conductors are connected to the board, providing a connection between the board and the system. When the contact pins are pressed, the contacts are securely mated and the connection is made. The contact pins also provide the necessary strain relief and insulation between the board and the system. The contact pins also possess excellent mechanical properties, ensuring that the contact is not easily affected by shock or vibration. The contacts have an operating life of over 5,000 mating cycles and are rated up to 16A at 500V DC.The connector’s design also allows for consistent performance when used in series with multiple contact points. It can carry large amounts of current through multiple terminal points without dropping significant amount of power. This ensures that the power is evenly distributed throughout the system and the current dropped by each terminal point is minimal.Overall, FSI-115-03-G-D-K-TR is a reliable and cost-effective connector for a wide range of aerospace applications. Its design makes it ideal for transmitting electrical and optical signals with minimal power dropping. It is also easy to assemble and offers excellent mechanical protection for its contact pins and conductors, making it reliable and durable. With its versatility and performance, the FSI-115-03-G-D-K-TR ensures that aerospace applications are connected and powered with confidence.
