FTP-500 is a type of active power filter, which is used for harmonic compensation, and enables the harmonic components of the electrical power system to meet certain design requirements. Generally, the most advanced active power filters, including a full range of filter stages, provide greater flexibility, improved power network performance, and increased power quality.
The working principle of FTP-500 active power filter includes a power converter, a control system, an LCR filter, and a measurement unit. First, the power converter, usually composed of an inverter, rectifier, and transformer, which is driven by the control system, is responsible for the active filtering. To ensure the proper operation of the system, the control system monitors and controls the condition of the power converter, and sends signals to the power converter to modify its power parameters.
Second, the active power filter is composed of a passive filter such as an inductor, capacitor, or resistor (LCR) that separates the harmonic interference from the input power and prevents it from entering the power system. It is also responsible for providing an impedance match between the power system and the power filter. The LCR filter should have the characteristics of minimal insertion loss, resonance frequency, and the ability to prevent the filter from oscillating. The harmonic current is then measured by the measurement unit, and the control system is used to adjust the power converter to correct the harmonic.
FTP-500 active power filters have a wide field of application, such as in sensitive instrumentation systems, telecom industries, automation systems, and high power systems. Thus, the noise generated by harmonic interference can be reduced significantly, providing a stable power quality in the power system.
