HDSP-331G is a 14-segment LED display module developed by Hewlett-Packard Inc (HP) for character and numeric display applications. It is composed of two single digit LED modules which are connected in parallel to form a double digit.HDSP-331G is a high intensity LED character module with an 0.34 inch (8.58mm) digit height, green die and a viewing angle of +/- 30 degrees. The viewing angle allows the user to view the display from any angle within the stated range. The segment display allows for a wide variety of character and numeric shapes to be displayed, such as ASCII codes, numbers, symbols and custom characters. The module has a four key locking feature that ensures the stability of the mounting and connection.The working principle of HDSP-331G is based on direct current (DC). An array of LEDs are mounted on the module and are driven by a system where the appropriate voltages are applied in order to display the desired characters. The serial data is then provided via a serial interface, with the module using the micro-controller to decode and select the desired characters. The conversion of the serial data to the required control signals by the micro-controller is then used to activate and deactivate the LEDs.HDSP-331G is ideally suited to applications where large characters and numerals must be displayed in an easily readible form. The module is suitable for a wide range of applications, including industrial displays, medical equipment, laboratory equipment, POS systems, cash registers, process control systems, automotive and safety applications.The features of this display module include a wide range of operating temperatures, long life and low power consumption, as well as its versatility in displaying characters and numeric shapes.
