HDSP-5521 is a 14-segment alphanumeric indicator display module commonly used in various devices such as automotive, industrial, and medical equipment. It is a one-piece, complete module consisting of an LED emitter, a lens holder, a mounting frame, and a printed circuit board. It is designed to be highly reliable and requires minimal maintenance to ensure accuracy and longevity of the display.
HDSP-5521 consists of two types of elements: the alphanumeric characters, which are symbols such as numbers, letters, Greek symbols and punctuation marks; and the numeric elements, which are arranged in columns and rows. The display module is composed of two boards: the LEDs themselves which are mounted on one board and the control board where the electronics that control the LEDs are located. The control board consists of a microcontroller, an analog/digital interface, and a driver circuit.
The working principle of the HDSP-5521 is based on the basis of a current source and a multiplexing circuit. The current source provides the necessary current to power the LEDs, while the multiplexing circuit is responsible for selecting the appropriate LED segments and controlling their current levels. When the controller board sends a signal to the appropriate input pins, the multiplexing circuit sends the current to the proper LED segment. This enables the 14 segments in the module to be turned on or off in any desired combination, thus allowing for the display of a character or a number.
