Oscillators

The HG-2150CA 10.0240M-BXC Oscillator is a hermetically sealed, surface mount oscillator. It is a two port oscillator that works on the principle of providing a self-sustaining electrical oscillations. The oscillator is designed to create periodic electrical signals. The period of the signal is determined by the oscillator\'s circuit design for sustaining its own oscillations and by the frequency control elements. It is usually used as a clock source, but various applications can require different frequency and stability characteristics.

The oscillator is made out of a quartz crystal and an amplifying circuit. The quartz crystal is a frequency-determining element that provides a reference frequency as an alternating current when subjected to an alternating voltage. When an alternating current of frequency greater than its self-resonant frequency is applied to its terminals, an oscillation is started that will maintain itself as long as it is fed with electrical input from the applied voltage. It has a wide temperature range of -20 °C to 85 °C and is suitable for operating over a wide range of input voltages between 2.5 to 25.0 volts. The quartz-controlled oscillator also has low jitter in the transmission of digital data and a high level of immunity to individual component tolerance variations. The oscillator also has an extremely low phase noise for low distortion in the output signal.

The HG-2150CA 10.0240M-BXC Oscillator is suitable for use in many fields like cellular communication systems, wireless LAN, data processing systems, base stations, telecommunication equipment, GPS and navigation, broadcast equipment, and high speed digital systems.
