Working Principle:

The principle of operation for fixed inductors is the same for all types of inductors—the magnetic field is generated when electric current flows through the coil. The said magnetic field in turn induces an electromotive force in the outer circuit, thereby opposing the change in the current. This phenomenon is known as the Lenz’s Law, and this helps to provide impedance to the flow of current, i.e. impedance matching.

The applied electric current passing through the inductor creates a magnetic field around it. The magnitude of the magnetic field is proportional to the amount of electric current. The inductance, or \'L\', is a measure of the magnetic field created. The higher the inductance, the more electric current is needed to create the same magnetic field.
