LED Indication - Discrete is a type of LED solution that uses reconfigurable and/or sector powerful light beams to deliver bright, easily visible colored and flashing light signals. LED Indication - Discrete includes LED indicators, LED displays, LED lamps and LED light strips.

The HLMP-6300-F0031 by Lite-On is an LED indicator with a luminous intensity of 2,000 mcd (millicandela) at 2.25V and a voltage rating of 2.25V to 6V. The LED boasts an operating temperature of -40˚C to 100˚C, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. It is suitable for PCB mounting and comes with an infrared emitting diode (IRED).

Working Principle

The operating principle of the HLMP-6300-F0031 LED indicator is simple. It happens in three steps:

• Step 1: An IRED radiates energy to the LED element.
• Step 2: When the LED element is energized, electrons move from an electron-rich area of semiconductor material to an electron-poor area.
• Step 3: When enough electrons move to the electron-poor area, the LED element emits a visible light with a wavelength of 630nm (nanometers).

The HLMP-6300-F0031 operates at a higher forward voltage than most other LEDs, and is thus restricted to indoor applications only. Moreover, it consumes less power during operation and has a higher efficiency. Thanks to the fact that the LED emits bright light, it is suitable for applications that require visibility and high contrast at the same time.
