IntroductionThe HMC-C035 RF Mixers is a high performance wideband RF mixer with operating frequency range up to 18GHz. It is an active mixer with integrated balun. The mixer utilizes high linearity GaAs PHEMT technology to achieve excellent IP3 and low conversion loss, while providing good isolation. The mixer can be used in applications such as frequency conversion, signal upconversion, phase-shifting, and frequency generation.Application FieldThe mixer is ideally suited for use in RF applications such as communications, instrumentation, and testing systems. It is also suitable for use in wireless test and measurement systems, satellite communication systems, high-performance wireless test and measurement systems, telecommunication systems, GPS systems, point-to-point microwave radio, and various other RF systems. It is also suitable for use in microwave backhaul networks, high-speed data transmission and signal conditioning applications.Working PrincipleThe HMC-C035 RF Mixers works by taking two input signals - a local oscillator (LO) and a radio frequency (RF) signal - and combining them. The resulting output signal is a mix of the two frequencies at an intermediate frequency (IF) at a value that is equal to the difference between the two inputs.The RF signal is connected to the mixer\'s RF port, while the LO signal is connected to the LO port. The LO signal is used to modulate the RF signal, producing a signal of intermediate frequency at the IF Out port. This IF output is then amplified, filtered, and processed before being transmitted.The HMC-C035 RF Mixers utilizes a balanced mixer core, which is well-suited for balanced signals, such as those produced in wireless and cellular networks.
