Introduction
HMC1023-PCB is a miniaturized precision Hall-Effect evaluation board designed for use with optical and magnetic sensors for applications in industrial, automotive, consumer, and medical systems. HMC1023-PCB can detect and measure magnetic fields with high precision and accuracy and provides reliable operation from low to high fields and temperatures.Application Field
The primary application of HMC1023-PCB is in optical and magnetic sensors. Initially developed for industrial applications, the PCB’s versatility and accuracy have made it smaller and suitable for a variety of additional applications. With its ability to measure down to nano-Tesla (nT) and its wide temperature range, HMC1023-PCB applications have also been found in automotive systems, consumer electronics, medical devices, commercial industrial, and security systems. The small size of the HMC1023-PCB gives it additional advantages over competitor boards, allowing it to be mounted on small surfaces or on printed circuit boards for industrial applications. With the ability to detect minor changes in magnetic field, it is well-suited to detect small objects passing through a magnetic field automatically such as barcodes and RFID chips in security checks, stock-availability in warehouses, and even proximity of medical instruments to each other..Working Principle
The working principle of the HMC1023-PCB is based on the Hall-effect sensor. This uses a thin layer of magnetically permeable material sandwiched between two electrodes to detect the strength of a nearby magnetic field. When a magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the layer, the electric resistance between the two electrodes changes. This change is proportional to the magnetic field strength and can be detected and measured by the HMC1023-PCB.The hall effect sensor is also capable of operating in more than just a single-axis mode. The double-axis mode refers to situations where the orientation of the magnetic field changes over time around the hall effect sensor, and the HMC1023-PCB is able to detect and measure both the magnitude and direction of the field in a non-invasive manner. Furthermore, multiple HMC1023-PCB boards can be used to detect a three-dimensional arrangement of the applied magnetic field.Conclusion
