HMC1063LP3E Working Principle

At the heart of the mixer is a square-law reverberator cell, which operates on a system of two differential transconductance amplifiers. The two input signals, the RF input and the Local Oscillator are applied to the amplifier and a signal is produced that is an amplitude-modulated representation of the RF input\'s frequency. The amplified signal is then shifted and subsequently sent through a nonlinear transfer curve, resulting in a signal that is equal to the product of the two inputs. The resulting harmonic can be either removed by a filter, or left as is for more complex applications.
