RF Switches

The HMC182S14ETR is a one-pole-14-throw, fully reflective, anisotropic reflectivity (AR), passive, solid state, RF Switches. It is specifically designed to be used in frequency division duplex (FDD) wireless systems and other applications that require the switching of high-frequency signals up to 2.1 GHz. The HMC182S14ETR has a low insertion loss and provides excellent isolation and excellent linearity characteristics.

Application Field

The HMC182S14ETR has a broad range of applications. Working Principle

The HMC182S14ETR consists of a single solid state chip, which is designed using a parallel resonant transmission line network. This network is composed of a series of transmission lines called “fingers”, which are connected in parallel and separated by insulating gaps. The transmission lines act like resonant circuits and when combined, they have a low insertion loss across the frequency range of interest. The length and width of each finger depend on the application.When a signal is applied to the switch, the fingers resonate. Each finger induces current in the adjacent finger, which is then coupled back to the input terminal. The resonant frequency of the finger is determined by its length and width, and the strength of the coupling is determined by the distance between the fingers. The combination of these factors determines the isolation and insertion loss of the switch.

The HMC182S14ETR has a low insertion loss, excellent isolation, and excellent linearity characteristics. It provides a reliable switching solution for applications that require high frequency signals up to 2.1 GHz.
