The HRF-AT4611-E is an Evaluation Module based on AT4611 a highly integrated RF front end IC. This off-the-shelf system provides a complete reference design for various consumer products, including camcorders, TV receivers, digital camcorders and wireless data receivers. By leveraging the highly integrated features of the AT4611, a wide range of functions can be implemented in a single piece of hardware. The HRF-AT4611-E is specialized for Evaluation and Test of the AT4611 RFIC. It enables a high-quality, low-cost evaluation of RF functions such as 2.4GHz low energy Bluetooth, Zigbee, Wi-Fi and W-CDMA.

The HRF-AT4611-E operates at a center frequency of 2.4GHz and contains several control features such as an auto-gain control accessed through an external potentiometer. It also utilizes an RF sensor to detect any changes in the RF signal strength. The HRF-AT4611-E contains a support circuit for voltage regulation and power supply, as well as an automatic transmit-receive switching circuit that eliminates the need for an external antenna switching network.

The exact operation of the HRF-AT4611-E can be broken down into several parts. First, it is necessary to adjust four external potentiometers, which also doubles as digital I/O devices. These potentiometers control the sensitivity of the RF sensor and the gain of the preamplifier. It also includes an auto-gain control function, which adjusts the amplifier gain depending on the detected RF signal strength. Secondly, it contains an RF Switch for selecting between the RX and TX modes.

Upon entering the transmit mode, the HRF-AT4611-E amplifies the signal with the preamplifier, providing a higher level of gain across a wide range of frequencies. The signal is then directed to the on-board mixer, where it is mixed with the local oscillator signal to produce the transmitted signal. During receive mode, the received signal is amplified with the preamplifier and the mixer is disabled. This ensures that only the desired signal is received while noise is filtered out.

The HRF-AT4611-E is capable of both establishing and maintaining wireless communication. The on-board controller supports the Configuration and Protocol stack of the transceiver IC. It is also able to monitor the progress of data transmission by monitoring the status of the RF components. Additionally, it contains several external connectors for interfacing with the external environment, including a USB port, I2C master, and UART serial port.

Due to the highly integrated features of the HRF-AT4611-E, it is ideal for applications such as camcorder, TV receivers, digital camcorders and wireless data receivers.
