HW-V2PRO-XLVDS application field and working principle

The HW-V2PRO-XLVDS is a sophisticated evaluation board that integrates both Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) and Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) technology. It is used for applications like digital video surveillance, telecommunications, biometrics, and many other embedded electronics. The board offers tremendous flexibility by combining the advantages of FPGAs and CPLDs. In addition to the inherent benefits of FPGAs, such as higher speeds and lower power consumption as compared to CPLDs, the FPGA confines the logic to just a few chips, thus ensuring a lower total system cost. On the other hand, CPLDs offer higher density, pin compatible device and need of lower system development capabilities. Combining these technologies in HW-V2PRO-XLVDS gives users the option of developing a great range of I/O configurations.The HW-V2PRO-XLVDS features a very powerful FPGA from the Xilinx product family, the XC3S200A-4VQG100C. It incorporates two hundred thousand memory elements and runs up to 200MHz. A four million gate CPLD from the Altera product family, the EPF10K20RC-4GP, and an Xilinx differential LVDS Octal Bus transceiver, the XCV185E-8BG456, completes the components of the board.To work properly, the board needs an external power supply for power. It features power supply pins that can be connected to a regulated power source with a voltage of between 3.2 and 5V. To program the board, an external JTAG programming adapter is needed.When it comes to usage, the HW-V2PRO-XLVDS offers the possibility to quickly design an electronic system that is compatible with complex logic devices. FPGA-Aided Design (FAD) is a popular application for this board as it uses the FPGA part of the board to store and manipulate digital data. FAD allows users to capture, store, process, and manipulate digital audio, video, and image data in real-time.
