The ICE2A280Z is a peak current mode control, primary side regulation off-line switcher IC designed for Standby and Auxiliary Power Supplies in appliances requiring power from 90VAC to 264VAC. This IC improves the efficiency of cooling systems and provides excellent line voltage hold-up during transient line conditions. Its frequency jittering allows for improved EMI performance.

The ICE2A280Z can easily be configured for a wide range of low power applications such as standby and battery-charging power supplies. It features a constant current regulation mode that allows for driving high power N-channel MOSFETs. Protection features include overvoltage protection, over temperature protection, short-circuit protection and voltage input frequent detection. It comes with a 500kHz peak current mode and is capable of driving up to 3A of output current at peak.

The ICE2A280Z can be used as an offline switcher in industrial, commercial and consumer markets. It is well suited for driving AC/DC converters, such as Canela’s ICE2E280Z AC/DC converters. It provides an adjustable soft start time and an adjustable switching frequency from 33kHz to 525kHz. Its built-in internal loop compensation allows for fast transient response and superior AC regulation performance.

The ICE2A280Z provides excellent line regulation performance over a wide input voltage range. In addition, it conserves power during startup and has an adjustable dead-time and an adjustable under voltage lockout (UVLO). Its internal linear regulator and thermal shutdown circuitry allows for improved system protection and long term reliability.
