- Application Field
- IEG12-30677-2 is an instantaneous type circuit breaker, which is suitable for providing overload/short-circuit protection in accordance with IEC 60947-2. It is also commonly used in electrical distribution systems such as residential and industrial, as the interrupting devices of circuits with AC voltage rating up to 1000V.
- This circuit breaker is also applicable as the firefighting power supply switch and as the standby power supply equipment in power plants. It is mainly used for protecting electric lines and overload/short-circuit protection of equipment such as electric motors or pumps.
- Working Principle
- The IEG12-30677-2 is composed of an upper housing and a lower housing. Both the housings contain a thermomagnetic release and a solenoid actuator.
- The thermomagnetic release is used to detect an overload situation in the electric system, whereas the solenoid actuator is used to interrupt the electric circuit when the thermomagnetic release detects an overload or short-circuit condition.
- The circuit breaker is activated when the current in the system reaches the threshold value set in the thermomagnetic release. The thermomagnetic release gradually opens the circuit in case of an overload situation, which helps to disconnect the circuit from the system and avoids the circuit from suffering from any damage due to overheating.
- The IEG12-30677-2 is also equipped with a thermal-magnetic resistive switch that protects the equipment from dangerous power surges. As soon as the voltage fluctuates beyond the safe limit, the switch automatically disconnects the circuit from the power supply.
