The IEGF-66-34439-25W-V works by detecting an over-current or overload condition in the circuit and then quickly opening the circuit to prevent the overload condition from continuing. It uses a thermomagnetic mechanism to detect the over-current and initiate the trip. This mechanism consists of a bimetallic disc and a set of contacts and a moveable magnetic armature. When the current flowing through the breaker exceeds the pre-set limit, the overload heat generated by the current causes the bimetallic disc to heat up, causing it to bend and open the contacts. This, in turn, activates the moveable magnetic armature which then trips the breaker and opens the circuit.

Once the breaker has tripped, it must be reset manually to restore power to the circuit. This is done by pushing the reset button located on the breaker. When the reset button is pressed, the moveable magnetic armature is returned to its original position and the bimetallic disc returns to its normal shape, closing the contacts and restoring power to the circuit. This process must also be done while wearing protective gloves as the breaker is still live while it is being reset.
