Working Principle

The IEGZXF6-1-72-10.0-J6-V circuit breaker works by using a bimetal spring element in series with the load or source of power. The bimetal spring element senses the temperature of the system, and when it gets too hot (due to overload or short circuit conditions), the bimetal spring element then bends and acts as a switch, opening the circuit. This interrupts the electrical circuit and stops current flow, preventing further damage.

This type of breaker is self-contained, and when tripped, it resets itself automatically simply by pressing the reset button on the outside of the breaker. This is made possible due to a thermal memory inside the breaker which remembers the temperature of the bimetal spring before it opened to trip the breaker.
