Fixed Inductors

Fixed inductors are electrical components designed to maintain a stable flow of alternating current within a circuit. They consist of an electrical conductor, a core, and an enclosure that limits the magnetic field generated around the coil. The primary use of an inductor is to store energy in the form of a magnetic field created by the current flowing through it, and to use this energy to reduce the amount of current in the system. It can also provide the necessary reactance to suppress power loss or resonance.

IM02SHR47H Application Field and Working Principle

The IM02SHR47H family of fixed inductors is a low profile device for use in switching power supplies, switching regulators, and multi-phase conversion. This family of inductors is designed to have a high current rating with a low profile, low DC resistance, and low temperature coefficient. Designed to operate across a wide temperature range (from -40°C to +125°C), these inductors are suitable for high-current applications in a variety of applications.

The IM02SHR47H\'s design for a typical application is constructed of an air core, high permeability magnetic material, and a pair of windings wound with high a intensity magnetic material that allows efficient transfer of energy. This key part, in combination with a metal case, increases reliability and helps to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI). The inductor also offers a temperature rise of 30°C above the ambient temperature, and is RoHS compliant.

In conventional operation, the primary winding of the inductor is connected to a current source like a power supply or a switch mode power supply (SMPS). When the source current flows through the windings, a magnetic field is generated, which produces an inductance that opposes the current. The source and the output voltage of the inductor are inversely related, and together they create a voltage drop. The inductance also limits the current in the circuit, helping to protect it from overloads and other current surges.

The IM02SHR47H also has an EMI shielded core which increases suppression of both common-mode and differential-mode noise. Each core has an internal shield layer that helps reduce the external generated noise from spreading out of the inductor. At the same time, the external shield layer helps prevent noise from entering the inductor.

With so many features, the IM02SHR47H family of inductors provides excellent performance in a variety of applications.
