The IMS05ER121K is designed with a ferrite core and consists of 2 windings which consist of 12 turns of AWG19 wire. The windings are connected in series and mounted in a 13 mm x 18 mm x 8.5 mm package. The series combination of windings enables the IMS05ER121K to have a wide operating range of 5-30 mH which is suitable for conditions where a wide range of current is needed. It also has high efficiency and high current ratings. Along with a wide range of current, the inductor has excellent temperature and frequency performance with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +115°C and a frequency range of 0.25–8megahertz.
The working principle of the IMS05ER121K is based on Faraday’s Law of Induction. It states that when a change in current is applied across the windings of the inductor, a magnetic field is created. This field induces an electromotive force in the secondary winding and current begins to opportunistically flow through the inductor. This process is repeatable and efficiently converts electrical energy into magnetic energy and back to electrical energy again.
The main advantage of the IMS05ER121K is that it is able to efficiently and reliably supply high currents with minimal distortion at both levels of power. This means that large, pulsed currents can flow through theFixed inductor without affecting the powerline or other connected components. This makes it an ideal component for applications such as motor drives, inverters and power amplifier production.
