IO-EXPANDER-EVM is one such platform. IO-EXPANDER-EVM is an evaluation module designed for testing the functionality and capabilities of the IO Expander range of ICs from Texas Instruments – a US semiconductor company based in Dallas.

The IO-EXPANDER-EVM is a circuit evaluation platform designed to demonstrate the capabilities of the IO Expander range of products. These ICs are designed to provide an interface for connection between an application processor and external analog and digital sensor devices. The IO-EXPANDER-EVM provides the necessary interface hardware and software to help demonstrate how these products could be used to build systems for a variety of consumer, commercial, medical and industrial applications.

The IO-EXPANDER-EVM consists of a low-cost prototyping board that is connected to the application processor. The interface is then designed using either the provided IO-EXPANDER-Bridge software tool or configurable I/O functions in the application processor’s software development environment. This allows the user to quickly configure and evaluate the various configurations of the IO Expander range of products to suit their particular application.

The IO Expander range of ICs provides a simple bidirectional I/O interface with support for analogue and digital input and output. The IO-EXPANDER-EVM includes a number of different interface connectors and boards that will enable the user to connect external sensors and actuators to the IO-EXPANDER. This means that the user can easily configure the IO Expander to suit their application.

In addition to the various peripherals that are included in the IO-EXPANDER-EVM, a number of software tools are included which will allow the user to interact with the ICs and evaluate their functionality. These include tools for configuring the I/O, calibrating the I/O, reading and writing data to the I/O and interacting with the application processor.

The IO-EXPANDER-EVM is an easy to use platform for evaluating the functionality and capabilities of the IO Expander range of ICs. It provides a platform for both the hobbyist and the professional engineer to explore the limits of what these devices can do in terms of design and functionality. The IO-EXPANDER-EVM can also be used to teach the basics of programming and circuit design to students who are new to these concepts.
