.IRM-3638 is a remote receiver module that is part of the optical sensor – photodetector family. It is designed to detect remote-controlled infrared (IR) signals and interpret them into codes that are then used to control various device states. The module operates using the same principle as other Standard Infrared Remote Control (SIRC) systems. It can decode signals from various devices that use SIRC protocols, such as TVs, DVD players, air conditioners, and much more. The IRM-3638 is an optoelectronic receiver module with a wide bandwidth, a low noise threshold, and a high sensitivity level. It features a wide tuning range, allowing it to capture signals that are both wide-band and narrow-band. It also has automatic gain control (AGC) and is capable of emitting a low-voltage direct current (DC) signal when the detector receives a waveform. The receiver consists of an infrared sensor, amplifier, AGC, and low-voltage detector. The infrared sensor elements are embedded near the optoelectronic active region and form an array. The array of optical detectors pick up the infrared radiation and convert it into electrical charges. The amplified signal is then passed onto the AGC circuit that adjusts the signal strength based on the amplitude of the signal. The amplified signal is then passed onto the low-voltage detector, which converts the signal into a DC voltage that can be read by the module’s microprocessor. The IRM-3638 has excellent response times and can detect signal frequencies from 38 kHz to 55 kHz. It has a maximum gain of approximately 451 dB and a maximum sensitivity of 10,000 V/W at 38 kHz. The module is designed to work in both long-distance and short-distance applications. For long-distance applications, where signals have to travel over longer distances without significant attenuation, the receiver has a wide range of spectral bandwidths and signal amplitudes. For short-distance applications, the spectral bandwidths can be narrowed, and the signal amplitude reduced to increase the signal intensity and detectability. This allows the receiver to accurately detect signals in both near and far ranges. The module works by detecting modulated infrared signals from a compatible remote control or other electromagnetic source. When these signals are detected, the module converts them into codes. These codes are then used by the device to interpret the instructions and perform the desired action. This method is usually used to control various appliances, devices, and entertainment systems such as TVs and DVD players. The IRM-3638 is a reliable, compact, and cost-effective receiver module suitable for use in various optical sensing applications. It is highly responsive and easy to use and offers numerous advantages for remote control applications, including high sensitivity, low noise, wide frequency range, and efficient modulation sensitivity control.
