IRM-8602S is an application field of an optical sensor and a photo-detector, not just representing the designation of a specific processor type. It is also classified as a type of remote receiver (RR).
An RR is an active optical transceiver used in long-distance communication networks. It has two ports, one to the host computer for transmission and one to the remote receiver for receiving data. To further improve the system performance and signal decoding in the presence of ambient noise, the IRM-8602S uses a proprietary algorithm for noise rejection. This algorithm is able to reject noise up to 30 dB below the received signal level, allowing the receiver to efficiently decode weak signals. It also provides a wide range of threshold and gain adjustment for the individual receive channels.
The receiver electronics of the IRM-8602S is designed to run autonomously and in parallel with the host computer. This allows the receiver to process incoming signals quickly and accurately, without burdening the host computer. The continuous monitoring of the receiver’s operations is also done by the host computer.
