Fixed Inductors
Fixed inductors are vastly used in electronic devices and circuits. They are also referred to as “chokes” because they restrict the flow of current. One device in particular, the ISC1812BN331K fixed inductor, has applications in a wide variety of electronic circuits. The main application of this component is in high frequency circuits such as DC-DC Converters, Telecom applications, Voltage Regulators, Linear Regulators, and many other high frequency switching stages.The working principle of the ISC1812BN331K fixed inductor is simple. It is based on Faraday’s law which states that the rate of change of the current flowing through a conductor is directly proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic flux. The flux is determined by the amount of current flowing through the component and the inductance of the inductor which is the measure of the “stiffness” of the inductor to the change in current. As the current changes, the magnetic flux will change due to an increase or decrease in the core material of the fixed inductor.The ISC1812BN331K uses this principle of Faraday’s law in order to store energy in the form of a magnetic field. When the current flowing through the inductor is applied, it will cause the core material to become saturated with electrons. When the current is removed, the electrons will slowly be released and the magnetic field will dissipate. This stored energy is then used to counter the changes in the current, thus creating a fixed inductance. This component is also designed for resonance and high frequency applications. The high inductance of 330nH allows for high frequency operation, while the low DCR of 55mΩ ensures minimal power loss due to voltage drops across the leads of the component. The component is also designed to have a high Q factor, thereby ensuring the maximum amount of reactance at resonance.The high frequency performance of the ISC1812BN331K, coupled with its RoHS and Halogen Free construction make it an ideal choice for many applications.
