The ISL6422BERZ is a DC voltage booster solution that is only available in a 10-lead, 2mm x 3mm DFN package that provides a regulated voltage of 4.25V and higher. It is designed for applications that require a smaller footprint and stable regulation for small form-factor devices, such as digital cameras, PDAs, tablets, and Ultra-Mobile Personal Computers (UMPCs).

The ISL6422BERZ boosts a voltage from a regulated input of 3.3V to a regulated output of 4.25 to 5.5V, enabling new applications that require higher voltages for power-hungry components. It also draws low current from the input voltage and operates at low switching frequencies (less than 2MHz), eliminating the need for an external inductor.

The ISL6422BERZ integrates a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) high-side switch, low-side switch, low-dropout (LDO) regulator, and a low-side n-channel output transistor, along with logic circuitry and protection circuitry to protect against an overload condition. The magnetic component count can be reduced by using integrated inductor mode, which eliminates the need for complicated transformer designs.

The ISL6422BERZ operates in a fixed frequency mode of 1.5MHz or 2MHz, or can be synchronized to an external clock. It features a programmable soft-start time (up to 7.2ms max) and a programmable frequency synchronization range of 50% to 150% of its internal nominal frequency. The ISL6422BERZ also features two programmable safety features to protect the device from an overtemperature or an overvoltage condition.

The ISL6422BERZ provides a high efficiency solution that is suitable for automotive, industrial, communication, and consumer applications. It is available in the industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. It also has an integrated over-temperature monitor which shuts down the load when the die temperature rises above a threshold level. The ISL6422BERZ is ideal for automotive infotainment, TV tuners, and USB power applications.
