ISL6423ERZ Application Field and Working Principle

The ISL6423ERZ is a high-performance, advanced, single-phase, synchronous-rectified monolithic synchronous buck regulator featuring integrated, robust FETs, low-side current sensing, separate voltage sensing, and onboard compensation, making it ideal for high-current power supply applications. This device is designed to provide up to 1.8V output voltage with 1000mA output current.

Application Field

The ISL6423ERZ is well-suited for communication, industrial, distributed power supply, computer systems, and other space-constrained applications. The synchronous buck regulator has integrated FETs, which result in efficient operation and fewer external components compared to other solutions. Working Principle

The ISL6423ERZ operates by using two distinct bridges of MOSFETs connected in parallel. One is a low-side synchronization switch while the other is a high-side buck converter switch. The total current supplied by the device varies depending on how much current is sourced through the low-side switch, and this is accomplished by the use of a separate voltage and current sensing circuit. This Circuit senses the voltage and the current in the low-side switch, which is then sent to the internal compensation network. This compensation network is designed to generate the desired voltage and current during normal operation.

The ISL6423ERZ utilizes synchronous rectification to reduce switching losses and power dissipation. This also reduces the need for an external rectifying diode or Schottky diode, as the synchronous rectification operation does not require these components.
