The controller integrates all protection features, eliminating the need for complex discrete component implementation.The device operates from an AC or DC input voltage, with an adjustable output voltage, controllable by external voltage programming pins and/or by DC voltage from the output sense. The ISL8842AABZ offers a simple and direct control over Power Factor Correction (PFC) with a pin-selectable burst-mode or continuous-mode operation.The ISL8842AABZ, which combines both ac/dc and dc/dc, is designed for cost-effective, efficiency-driven switching power supply applications. It requires a single, low-cost transformers, produces output voltages of up to 65V, supportsDC bus monitoring, programmable power characterizations, and wide frequency operation.The IC can be used in a wide range of applications, from embedded home appliances and telecom power systems to AC/DC, dc/dc and LED lighting applications. It is highly recommended for offline power systems, because it offers accurately controllable output voltage levels, depending on external voltage modulation and/or on the output voltage sense, the ISL8842AABZ provides the widest range of applications today.The ISL8842AABZ includes an internal driver and an internal oscillator, allowing the user to select from various frequency modes such as burst-mode and continuous-mode operation. The two-level frequency operation of the device allows for rapid control of loads and also enables tighter output voltage control.
