The ISL9106EVAL1Z evaluation board has been designed to provide a versatile platform for demonstrating the features and performance capabilities of the ISL9106 transformer-based, isolated DC/DC switching regulator controller. The synchronous buck converter is used to evaluate the key features of the device, its excellent load and line regulation, as well as its accurate/stable output voltage regulation.
The ISL9106EVAL1Z provides a plug and play evaluation board for the ISL9106 DC/DC synchronous buck regulator. The evaluation board is designed to aid in evaluating ths features of the ISL9106 by providing a platform for evaluating the input/output characteristics of the synchronous buck regulator. The board features a 2.2μF ceramic input cap and a 4.7μF ceramic output capacitor to provide good transient response characteristics. The board also includes a power compensation loop circuit to ensure stable operation of the device at lower output currents.
The ISL9106EVAL1Z is organized into a two-layer PCB to minimize board space without compromising device performance. The powertrain components have been marked clearly to identify and differentiate between the input and output sections. High quality Würth components have been incorporated into the board design and laid out to ensure good thermal performance and minimal PCB space utilization. The board also includes two test points that can be used for measuring the output voltage and/input to output voltage conversion ratio.
The ISL9106EVAL1Z board supports a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 42V and has the ability to deliver an output voltage of up to 42V. Output current capability is up to 10A, making the board ideal for evaluating the features of the ISL9106 in a wide range of application conditions. Other features of the board include a power-OK indicator LED, a SYNC status indicator LED, a test point for output voltage sampling, a key pin for controlling the device\'s demagnetization mode, and a power-good and power-loss comparator.
The working principle of the ISL9106EVAL1Z evaluation board is based on the operating principle of the ISL9106 DC/DC synchronous buck regulator. The ISL9106 is a transformer-based, isolated DC/DC switching regulator that uses a full bridge voltage-mode control architecture to provide excellent line and load regulation. The device\'s feedback loop includes a voltage error amplifier and an adjustable error amplifier, which controls the duty cycle of the device\'s high-side and low-side MOSFETs to generate a constant output voltage.
The synchronous buck regulator controller offers a fully integrated, high-performance solution for regulating output voltages from 4.5V to 42V. It has adjustable current-mode control architecture with internal compensation to ensure stable operation across a wide range of input and output conditions. The synchronous buck regulator controller also has a key pin that can be used to control the device\'s demagnetization mode.
The ISL9106EVAL1Z evaluation board is ideal for evaluation purposes due to its wide input voltage range, low board size and a variety of features.
