On power-up, the control IC initiates a start-up circuit which provides a duty cycle pulse to the gate of the P-channel MOSFETs. In the continuous conduction mode (CCM) of operations, the output voltage depends on the duty cycle of the gate signal and is maintained at the specified output voltage, by the voltage error amplifier. This signal oscillates between high and low values, resulting in a sinusoidal waveform from the gate’s source terminal.
A low-pass filter is then used to filter these high and low signals. The resultant voltage is the regulated output voltage. The device also provides an adjustable output voltage between 0.8V and 1.2V. This functionality is achieved by changing the voltage reference and input voltage, by connecting a suitable IPM (input power module) and adjusting the voltage settings.
