The K-MG2470B-RDK evaluation board is a concept design platform that integrates the rich features of the MRF2470B transceiver and Microchip Technology\'s PICmicro® MCU microcontroller. It provides an easy way to start exploring IEEE 802.15.4-2003 transceiver and its application, such as ZigBee, 6LowPAN and any other application development. Moreover, the K-MG2470B-RDK evaluation board is designed to support a variety of microcontrollers and that provides a variety of onboard debug resources; the board also enables easy of access to all pins on the microcontroller and the RF transceiver module.Application Field
K-MG2470B-RDK evaluation board is ideal for system and application developers, allowing them to quickly and easily develop and test their application. It provides complete software and hardware integrated solution, simplifying the development from early stages to mass production. It is suitable for ZigBee Application, such as home automation, building automation, proximity lighting, wireless sensing andcontrol, industrial automation, alarm systems, energy management and many more.Working Principle
The development board is based on the K- Modules MRF2470B Wi-Fi transceiver and it incorporates a Microchip Technology PIC microcontroller that serves as the main control unit for the evaluation board. The MRF2470B transceiver is a highly integrated microwave transceiver module that offers an integrated solution for 2.4GHz wireless applications. The MRF2470B transceiver provides a complete RF system solution, integrating the features of the Physical Layer (PHY), Medium Access Control (MAC) and Network Layer of the IEEE802.15.4-2003 standard. The platform includes an on-board power and reset controller, a voltage regulator, the PIC microcontroller, the MRF2470B transceiver module, an antenna, temperature and humidity sensor, a potentiometers for light intensity sensing, a 128x64 graphical LCD, four LED indicators, four pushbuttons and a slot for an SDcard. The board supports two UARTs and two SPI buses for data communication, as well as PWM, Timers, ADC and I2C for peripheral devices.The development board is in a form factor of 3.15in x 4.02in x 0.7in with a female RP-SMA connector. It requires an external DC-DC power supply, providing both +3.3V and +5V, as well as an external antenna to ensure optimal communication range. The board works as a complete RF system, providing a platform in which users can quickly and easily develop and test the applications. The user can program the microcontroller with the provided software libraries to configure the RF transceiver, the low-level device drivers and other application-specific programs. The application can be debugged and programmed with the provided software tools such as the MPLAB X IDE and ICD3 debugger.Conclusion
