KLM-6/10 electrical specialty fuses are used for protecting electrical circuits and components from overcurrents and short circuits. Their external construction consists of a plastic body which is filled with a fuse metal and a cap containing a lead-in contact. The construction of the fuse metal, lead-in contact, and the shape of the plastic body distinguish these fuses from other similar types.
The fuse is rated to activate in an overcurrent situation by 10 A at 600VAC. The short-circuit current required to activate this fuse is 68,000A with a nominal melting time of 30 seconds. This reduces the possibility of injury from an arc flash and limits the possibility of equipments being damaged by excessive current.
The operating principle of this fuse is based on the Joule-Thomson effect. This is an effect which is caused by the internal resistance of the fuse wire, wherein the resistance bands of the fuse alloy prevent current flow in excess to the rated current or short-circuit current. These insulation bands transfer heat to their surroundings, which in turn reduces the fusing time and limits the duration of a dangerous arc flash. By preventing dangerous arcing the KLM-6/10 fuse reduces the risk of equipment damage and operator injury.
The KLM-6/10 is a popular type of fuse that is used in many electrical systems. It is used for applications such as air conditioning systems, motor control centers, motor drives, industrial control panels, distribution systems, and more. It is widely used due to its affordability, reliable performance, and versatility.
These fuses are designed to offer superior protection as well as excellent performance for users. They are easy to install and maintain and offer good flexibility when it comes to future expansions. Thefuse also meets the standards set by various agencies such as UL, CSA, and IEC. With its superior protection and excellent performance, the KLM-6/10 electrical specialty fuse is a cost-effective and reliable solution for protecting circuits and components against overcurrents and short circuits.
